Delivering Electrical & Low-Carbon Infrastructure for Four New Homes

Project Overview

WH88 delivered the complete electrical installation for a development of four new-build residential dwellings at Risley Avenue, Haringey, working alongside Aspire Commercial for Haringey Council.

Each property required a complete new electrical installation from first fix through to final testing and certification, together with the electrical infrastructure required to support the development’s renewable energy, life-safety and communal building services.

The scheme incorporated individual solar PV systems, air source heat pumps, residential sprinkler protection and communal wastewater storage and pumping infrastructure, requiring the electrical installation to be coordinated across both the individual dwellings and the wider development.

Residential Electrical Installation

Each of the four properties was delivered as an individual electrical installation, with its own distribution, final circuits and electrical accessories coordinated around the respective dwelling layout.

WH88 carried out the works from first fix through to second fix and completion, coordinating power and lighting with kitchens, bathrooms, heating equipment, external services and the wider building fabric.

Delivering the four properties as part of a single development also required a consistent approach to installation, circuit identification, testing and certification across the scheme.

Low-Carbon Energy Infrastructure

A key element of the development was the integration of electrical infrastructure for the homes’ low-carbon technologies.

Each dwelling incorporated its own solar PV installation, with the overall development comprising 16 × 420 W panels, providing approximately 6.72 kWp of installed generation capacity across the four properties.

Dedicated electrical supplies were also installed for the air source heat pump systems, allowing the electrical and heating infrastructure to be coordinated as part of the original construction rather than introduced retrospectively.

Life-Safety & Communal Infrastructure

In addition to the services within the individual homes, WH88 provided the electrical infrastructure required to support several systems serving the wider development.

This included electrical supplies and interfaces associated with the residential sprinkler installation, together with supplies for the communal wastewater storage tanks and associated pump set.

These services required coordination beyond the individual dwelling installations, ensuring the necessary power infrastructure was available for equipment forming part of the development’s shared and life-safety systems.

Coordination & Delivery

WH88 worked alongside Aspire Commercial and the wider project team throughout the construction programme, coordinating the electrical works with roofing, heating, plumbing, sprinkler installations, drainage infrastructure and internal finishes.

With four properties progressing concurrently, sequencing of first fix, renewable-energy infrastructure, communal services, second fix and testing was important to maintain progress across the development.

Particular attention was given to ensuring that the electrical requirements of the heat pumps, PV systems, sprinkler infrastructure and wastewater pump set were incorporated at the correct stage of the build.

Testing & Handover

Each dwelling was individually inspected, tested and certified on completion, with the relevant documentation incorporated within the overall project handover.

Electrical supplies associated with the renewable, life-safety and communal systems were also tested as part of the completed installation before final commissioning of the respective specialist equipment.

Outcome

The completed Risley Avenue development provided Haringey Council with four new homes incorporating modern electrical infrastructure and integrated low-carbon technologies.

Alongside the complete electrical installation to each property, WH88 delivered the infrastructure required to support solar PV, air source heat pumps, residential sprinkler protection and communal wastewater pumping, bringing the individual dwellings and shared building services together within a coordinated electrical package.

The project demonstrates WH88’s ability to deliver residential developments where conventional electrical services must be integrated with renewable technology, life-safety systems and communal infrastructure from first fix through to final handover.
